Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do you really need a coach?
From Steve Jobs to Jeff Bezos, Barack Obama to Oprah Winfrey - They all have coaches.
The most successful people — athletes, executives, entrepreneurs, and visionaries — know one truth: having a coach is a game-changer. They work with coaches not because they’re struggling, but because they understand the power of feedback to unlock their full potential. They work with coaches because they know that even at their best, they can still reach higher levels with a good coach by their side.
A coach helps you see what you can’t: blind spots, untapped strengths, and opportunities for growth. They help you find clarity, accountability, and strategies to accelerate your progress and stay aligned with your goals. Whether you want to overcome challenges, think through ideas, reach new heights, or create lasting change, coaching gives you the edge to achieve what matters to you the most.
What is Coaching and how does it work?
Coaching is a thought-provoking and results-driven powerful conversation that helps you gain clarity, overcome challenges, and take meaningful action toward your goals. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do—instead, a coach partners with you to unlock your own insights and solutions.
How Does Coaching Work?
1️⃣ Clarify Your Goals – You define what you want to achieve, whether it’s career growth, confidence, leadership skills, or work-life balance.
2️⃣ Explore Possibilities – A coach asks powerful, thought provoking questions to help you see new perspectives, uncover strengths, and shift limiting beliefs.
3️⃣ Design an Action Plan – Together with the coach, you create practical, achievable steps that move you toward your goal.
4️⃣ Stay Accountable & Adapt – Coaching keeps you focused and motivated through self-awareness and accountability, helping you reflect, adjust, and celebrate progress along the way.
By providing this structure, accountability, and a safe space for reflection, coaching helps you move from where you are now to where you want to be—faster and with greater confidence.
Please note:
Coaching is NOT therapy, consulting, or mentoring. Instead of focusing on the past or giving expert advice, professional coaching is about guiding you toward self-discovery and empowering you to create your own path forward.
Coaching + Mentoring combined: In case you do want me to also provide you consultation, mentorship or advisory, I can of course offer you a customized program where I can first help you gain clarity through coaching and then work with you on the solution space as a mentor / advisor / consultant. Please reach out to me if this approach suits you better.
Is coaching backed by science?
Yes indeed. Coaching is entirely based on neuroscience, psychology, and behavioral science and is proven to help individuals gain clarity, set meaningful goals, and take action toward personal and professional growth. It is a structured, evidence-based process that facilitates self-awareness, cognitive shifts, and sustainable change. Below are some of the well-researched aspects of coaching:
🔹 Brain Science & Neuroplasticity – Coaching helps rewire neural pathways through reflection and action. Research in neuroscience shows that focused attention and new ways of thinking strengthen neural connections, leading to long-term behavioral change (Rock & Page, 2009).
🔹 Goal-Setting & Motivation – Studies on goal theory (Locke & Latham, 2002) reveal that setting clear, challenging, and specific goals increases motivation and performance. Coaching provides a framework to create and achieve these goals effectively.
🔹 Cognitive & Behavioral Shifts – Coaching is rooted in positive psychology and cognitive-behavioral techniques that help clients overcome limiting beliefs and build resilience (Seligman, 2011). By asking powerful questions, coaches facilitate mindset shifts that drive success.
🔹 Accountability & Habit Formation – Behavioral science shows that external accountability increases the likelihood of follow-through (Baumeister & Tierney, 2011). Coaching supports clients in developing habits and making lasting changes.
🔹 Self-Determination & Empowerment – Coaching aligns with the Self-Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan, 2000), which emphasizes autonomy, competence, and relatedness as key drivers of motivation and well-being. Coaches create a non-judgmental space that fosters self-discovery and personal growth.
Who is a good coach?
The quality of results highly depend on the quality of coach so it is important to know who is a good coach.
As per International Coach Federation (ICF) which is the most renowned coach accreditation body in the world, a good coach is someone who:
Acts like a great sparring partner and truly wants you to succeed,
Listens actively without judgements,
Asks thought provoking questions which you never asked yourself,
Creates and holds space for you to pause, reflect, and introspect,
Evokes awareness and facilitates growth through powerful conversations

What are my credentials as a coach?
I am a trained professional solution-focused coach with 128 hours of coaching training from Erickson Coaching International (ICF accredited and 2024 ICF global impact awards winner) and clients coming from all walks of life (employees from MNCs such as SAP, McKinsey; entrepreneurs; school teachers; as well as students).
My coaching style, Solution-focused coaching, has its origins in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and combines various principles from positive psychology, systemic thinking, neuroscience, organizational behavior, and effective communication.
On top, I include variations based on my own mentoring / coaching experience of 10+ years as well as the learnings from renowned coaching books (e.g. Coaching Habit, Coaching for Performance), and expert findings.
Why did I study professional coaching?
I have been mentoring for 10+ years now and find it a very satisfying way of learning and growing together with my clients while helping them. Therefore for a long time, I never felt the need for learning professional coaching as such.
In 2024 it all changed when I went for a month long social sabbatical in Albania. To make the most of this experience, I also decided to invest in a professional coach on a colleague's recommendation. That experience and the positive value I received from my coach just blew my mind away!
Her attentiveness, her thought provoking questions, and her reframing my ideas were so impressive that since that day on, I have always had a regular coach. On top, I also doubled down on this valuable skill and have been continuously investing in mastering the coaching skills myself. Professional coaches are indeed costly. But in my experience, a good one is totally worth the investment :)
